TKGA Knit & Crochet Show Portland 2008

Lisa B. and I booked a trip to Portland to attend the TKGA Knit & Crochet Show way back on June 1st. Lisa B. found it via poking aroudn and the TKGA website. We joined the TKGA to get a discount on our knitting classes and prepared for a weekend away from the twins/husbands/Seattle and boarded the train to Portland. It was probably the best trip I have had in a LONG time and I was a bit hesitant as I am just beginning to feel the back pain lighten up a bit.

We had no idea what to expect when we arrived...it blew us away! The market was great although it could have been much larger and we now have new addictions! I am a YARNIA (Portland's only DIY yarn store) groupie now after purchasing 9 cones (the price is unbelievably affordable)! I picked up some gita maria custom made buttons and a pin for my mother. We purchased some some reasonably priced Alpaca from The Village Spinning & Weaving Shop (Solvang, CA). The Village Spinning & Weaving Shop also had kids stories that had sheep or knitting mentioned in them...SCORE! I picked up the boys' books from ther (I like to bring home a gift for them after every trip).

I became an Annie Modesitt worshiper after this trip. When she teaches it is like a stand-up comedian act and knitting instruction class all-in-one.
